Recipe: Reishi Mushroom Hot Chocolate
Reishi is a fantastic adaptogenic mushroom, but it can be quite bitter tasting, to counter this it mixes really well with anything chocolately. Our mushroom powders are the perfect choice to mix into hot drinks and increase the nutrient value, and now we are headed into Autumn, it’s time for those cosy evenings and curling up with a medicinal Reishi mushroom hot chocolate is the perfect treat.
We like to use cacao for this hot chocolate, the unprocessed form of cocoa which is rich in antioxidants to add to all the nutrition that the Reishi mushroom powder provides. Reishi mushroom is the perfect mushroom for unwinding in the evening, it’s adaptogenic nature helps the body to cope with stress and brings bodily systems into balance. Reishi mushroom is also deeply calming for the nervous system, helping us to get off to a deep restful sleep.
Reishi mushroom has been used medicinally for thousands of years, and revered in Asia as Queen of the mushrooms. It’s polysaccharide and triterpene content are excellent for regulating the immune system, and managing inflammation within the body.
